Anyone that has “liked” Corazon de Niña’s Facebook page may have seen that they invited people to come and help the girls decorate the house for Christmas. My friend Tori and I went to help this afternoon. Here are some of the pictures:
This is the outside of the house (I forgot to take a picture of it last time):
Here are some Christmas trees made out of magazines and paper mache snowballs the girls were making:
Someone donated a live Christmas tree and another person donated a fake white tree. At first the girls wanted the live one right in the middle of their patio area….
This is Melissa showing one of the girls, Cristina, how to use the spray paint to cover up some of the yellowish looking branches:
Cristina’s a pro!:
Here’s a great couple that we met this afternoon, Alison and Scott, who donated a bunch of decorations and were helping out, too:
More decorations and a few of the girls having fun with the can of fake snow:
They’re getting ready to paint fruit crates that will be hung on the wall above their homework area to be used as shelving/cubbies:
FYI, the man in the picture is Juan, Melissa’s husband and their son.
I thought there was going to be a lot more people there today to help decorate. I wish I could have brought more lights and decorations. It was a lot of fun watching the girls get excited about Christmas. I’m praying that we’re able to give them each something special for Christmas. These girls are so sweet and have been through so much. They have a bright future now though, since they’ve come to Corazon de Niña. If you’d like to help us buy each girls a special present, and also help us buy some bigger items for the house like possibly some computers, bed sheets, or a kitchen table and/or chairs, please donate whatever you can afford. Even 10 dollars will help, but keep in mind that anyone donating 50 dollars or more will receive a hand written note (along with a translation) from one of the girls. Also, 100% of the donations will go towards buying gifts for the girls and for their house. If you’d like to donate, there’s a Donate button under the “About” tab at the top of the page (under the picture). Payapal charges a small fee (for me), so if you live in the Omaha area, my mom or brother are both happy to take donations which they will deposit directly into my account.
Blessings to each of you and your families!
